WEBINAR “IS ACIDOSIS ALSO A PROBLEM FOR CALVES?”, PAWEŁ GÓRKA

WEBINAR TOPICS

  • Features of feeding calves in the first months of life and its impact on future productivity
  • Rumen pH and its development
  • Is acidosis also a problem for calves

PRESENTED BY

Dr. Paweł Górka is a professor at the Department of Nutrition, Animal Biotechnology, and Fisheries at the University of Agriculture in Krakow. His research focuses on the influence of nutritional factors on the development of the calf gastrointestinal tract, the structure and function of the ruminant gastrointestinal tract, and feed additives used in ruminant nutrition.

In his work, he tries to disseminate knowledge and practical solutions in calf and heifer rearing among milk producers. He is the author of many lectures, workshops, and popular science publications for practicing dairy farmers. Dr. Paweł Górka has published more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and more than 70 popular science books, mainly on calf and heifer rearing, and regularly makes presentations to dairy producers.

Stephen LeBlanc

WEBINAR “HEALTH MANAGEMENT OF COWS IN TRANSIT”, STEPHEN LEBLANC

Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor, Ontario Veterinary College, Canada – Stephen LeBlanc talks about the main challenges for cow health in transit and how to deal with them.

Using the examples of many scientific studies, Stephen shows how much cow diseases in the transit period affect their productivity and reproductive capacity. Proper health management of cows in transit is the key to successful lactation!

THOMAS R.

WEBINAR “PROTEIN AND AMINO ACID NUTRITION OF COWS”, THOMAS R. OVERTON AND PETER YODER

On October 27, the American Dairy Science Association and the European Federation of Animal Science held a webinar on Protein and Amino Acid Nutrition for Cows.

The webinar was attended by representatives of dairy farms, educational and research institutions, feeding companies and other companies working in the dairy industry. The speakers (Thomas R. Overton and Peter Yoder), based on the latest scientific research, spoke about important aspects of protein nutrition for high-yielding cows and cows in transit

ДЖЕСС ГОФФ

WEBINAR “COWS IN TRANSIT: STRATEGIES FOR PREVENTING HYPOCALCEMIA”, JESS GOFF

On September 29, a webinar with Dr. Jesse Goff was held on the topic: “Transitional cows: strategies for preventing hypocalcemia”.

Jesse spoke in detail about the mechanisms of hypocalcemia and the main approaches to preventing this disease. The webinar was attended by representatives of dairy farms, educational and research institutions, feeding companies and other companies operating in the dairy industry.

Participants actively asked questions, and Jesse chose the winner of the contest who will receive 80 Performanat Calcium Boluses.

It was Yuri Berezovsky with the question: “Some experts say that all problems can be solved through proper management. Is the approach of skipping milking or incomplete milking effective in preventing hypocalcemia?

WEBINAR “UPDATES IN THE NORMS OF VITAMIN AND MINERAL NUTRITION OF COWS NASEM 2021”, BILL WEISS

On August 11, 2023, a webinar with Dr. Bill Weiss was held on the topic: “Updates in vitamin and mineral nutrition standards for cows. NASEM 2021”. The webinar was joined by representatives of dairy farms, educational and scientific environment, feeding and other companies working in the field of dairy farming. Bill Weiss explained in detail why and how the norms for feeding vitamins and minerals to dairy cows have changed.

Zygmunt Kowalski

WEBINAR “WHY DOES THE FAT IN MILK FALL?”, PROFESSOR ZYGMUNT KOWALSKI

About the speaker: Professor Zygmunt Kowalski is the head of the Department of Animal Nutrition of the Faculty of Animal Breeding and Biology of the Krakow University of Agriculture. Author of more than 770 publications, including 112 original scientific works in well-known scientific journals (Journal of Dairy Science, LivestockProduction Science, AnimalFeed Science and Technology, Journal of Animal and FeedSciences). Professor Zygmunt Kowalski is an expert with extensive practical experience in cow feeding and calf rearing. The main scientific interests relate to protein and amino acid nutrition of dairy cows, use of fat in feeding cows, feed evaluation systems, prevention of metabolic disorders in cows, especially ketosis, calf rearing systems. Professor Kowalski is the co-author of the system for monitoring ketosis in dairy herds in Poland, based on the determination of the level of ketone bodies in milk by the FTIR method.

RICHARD KIRKLAND ПРО ЖИРНІ КИСЛОТИ

WEBINAR “KEY ASPECTS OF FAT AND FATTY ACID FEEDING FOR CURRENT COWS”, RICHARD KIRKLAND

Speaker: Dr Richard Kirkland (Global Technical Manager, Volac Wilmar Feed Ingredients, UK) About the Speaker: Richard has worked in the field of protected fats for over 18 years, specializing in the use of fats in dairy cow diets to improve performance. He has extensive practical experience in feeding cows in various conditions, technologies and environments. Its recommendations for milk producers are based on scientific experience and the latest results of research on the use of fatty acids in cow nutrition. Richard received his PhD from the Queen’s University of Belfast, his work focused on energy metabolism in dairy cows.

Phil Cardoso

WEBINAR “THE IMPACT OF AMINO ACID INTAKE IN THE TRANSITION PERIOD ON THE FERTILITY OF COWS”, PHIL CARDOSO

Phil Cardoso talks about how to feed a cow during the transition period to ensure easy calving, good health, high milk production, and on-time conception.

ABOUT SPEAKER: Dr. Felipe Cardoso (Phil) is an associate professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his D.V.M. and M.S. degrees from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil and his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. Since 2012, Phil has established a unique program and online presence that seamlessly blends his teaching, extension, and research efforts. Through his Dairy Science Program, Phil places students in applied positions and academia. Phil and his students have published over 90 peer-reviewed manuscripts (original research and invited reviews) and three invited book chapters to date. His program builds from dairy producers’ questions and focuses on having dairy cow diets serve as medical prescriptions for performance, health, and reproduction. This is achieved by understanding the impact of nutrition on metabolism, reproduction, and health in dairy cows, as well as mechanisms of metabolic adaptation to stressors and forage quality. Dr. Cardoso is currently part of the American Diary Association (ADSA) board of directors.
